Altercasting

Claim or assume your listener is who you want them to be. This is the opposite of almost all cross-partisan conversations: If someone says "all lives matter" progressives often say "that's racist" — we cast the audience as racist. Altercasting is to "cast" them as what you wish for: "I know you're not racist, so I wanted to talk about why that phrase bothers me."
