Will this conversation create a radical, personal connection — or influence the people listening in?
If you call out Trump's immorality, how do you call in your audience? Process your anger with friend — How do you give voice to people directly impacted? If you are both safe/privileged and angry, it's generally more powerful to give attention and voice to more directly impacted people. Vent with equally privileged allies. -- Ring Theory as a popout.

Frame

Immigrants are people; families. Border, security, threats.

Moral Foundations

Care/harm In-group loyalty and sanctity under threat

Identity: Deep Story

Mesh your frame and story with the themes of responsibility and "standing in line."

Suggestion: Charity

Suggestion: Fun Activities

Hopes: We want to share our perspective without turning a conversation into an argument, especially an argument with two hardened, competitive teams. Asking your friends for a non-controversial charity donation, perhaps for a holiday or birthday, is a way to be on the same team with you whole network, and share a story that expresses your views in a positive, non-competitive way. We want to seek a page that follows our frame: you might donate to lawyers helping people get through the border, but for opening conversations with conservatives, our suggested frame is the stories of people and families. Until it is personal, don't jump to the political.

  • Go to an ethnic restaurant related to current immigration or refugee issues.
